This year, APF has planned to organise a three-day training course which will be held at hotel Atlet Century Park, Jakarta, from 19-21 July 2011 with topic on Packaging Technology.

The focus of the program is aimed at bringing to the fore, the concept of Packaging and Technology as well as provide valuable insight into the state-of-art practices, emerging technologies and trends in packaging.

Perkembangan dunia industri kemasan memang tidak pernah mati walaupun krisis global tengah melanda dunia. Berbagai inovasi pada tahun ini muncul, diantaranya tutup baru Aqua galon yang merupakan hasil inovasi unik dengan meggunakan teknologi double-injection (dua kali pennyuntikan) dengan kombinasi dua material yang berbeda, berbasis material plastik poly-ethilene. Selain itu, Bintang Toedjoe juga mengembangkan alat takaran dosis untuk botol sirup obat (tanpa menggunakan takaran gelas atau sendok lagi) berupa straw-measuring spout (disingkat dengan SMS).

Pada tahun ini IPF berhasil menghantarkan dunia industri di Indonesia untuk meraih 11 AsiaStar awards yang berlangsung di Tokyo bulan oktober yang lalu untuk kategori Consumer Package, sehingga Indonesia masuk tiga besar setelah Jepang dan India. Pemenang dari Indonesia tersebut adalah: PT Aqua Golden Mississippi Tbk, PT Bukit Muria Jaya / BMJ, PT Bintang Toedjoe, PT Creative Style untuk Sari Ayu Martha Tilaar, PT Kartika Naya dan PT Bentoel Prima. Diharapkan dalam tahun-tahun mendatang akan lebih banyak lagi dukungan dari dunia industri dalam karya-karyanya akan inovasi desain untuk pengembangan pengemasan di Indonesia.

Implementation of Regulation on Food Packaging Materials

Dengan semakin berkembangnya teknologi di berbagai bidang, saat ini kemasan pangan sangat beragam, seiring dengan meningkatnya FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) sehingga mereka bersaing ketat untuk meraih konsumen dengan menciptakan berbagai inovasi desain kemasannya. Berbagai bahan kemasan seperti kertas, plastik, dan lain-lain banyak digunakan. Guna menjaga kualitas dan keamanan produk yang dikemasnya, dibutuhkan kemasan yang food grade yang dapat memenuhi standar keamanan pangan.
Sehubungan dengan UU No.7 tahun 1996 tentang Pangan dan PP 28 tahun 2004 tentang keamanan Mutu dan Gizi Pangan, Badan POM telah menerbitkan draft final peraturan tentang Bahan Kemasan Pangan yang mengatur batas migrasi, bahan tambahan yang dilarang dan bahan tambahan yang diijinkan untuk kemasan pangan. Peraturan tersebut diimplementasikan pada bulan Agustus 2008.
